It’s like a flu shot or a pneumonia shot. It’s a shot that PREVENTS you from getting it. Because it prevents illnesses, thus keeping costs down for the admittance to a hospital or having to go to the doctor for an office visit AND meds, this is free. Show your Medicare card and health/prescription card. Make certain you tell the place that you’re going to to get the shot that this should not be an out-of-pocket charge due to the fact that it falls under “preventive maintenance/medicine” for health. I paid absolutely nothing for my flu and shingles shot. Does not cover the 10 year PREVENTATIVE Tetnus/diptheria shot.

Humana said I did not meet my $320 deductible. I had it at the Dr. Office, not knowing that suddenly preventative shots are suddenly considered a drug. And no one in Humana customer service could tell me why it was not paid for. Happened to 2 other people that I know of who have this plan and big deductibles. Rediffmail. I scanned the Medicare book and the Humana plan. Nothing in Medicare book about the fact that & I quote “anything injectable is considered a drug.” Nothing in the table of contents of the Humana plan: found one little blurb about how some shots are now drugs on page 75.
This info was very vague and almost invisible. A drug is to treat an ailment, a drug is not a preventative measure.
When I asked for a book outlining what drugs are covered I got NOTHING. So I guess any preventative is just a crap shoot as to whether you pay or not. And who the heck would know that suddenly you can not get a shot in your Drs.
What kind of devious nonsense is this? Saving a lot of $ for Humana I would say. I do believe this is true for all Plan D programs. If you get self-administered drugs that aren’t covered by Medicare Part B while in a hospital outpatient setting, the hospital may bill you for the drug. However, if you are enrolled in a Medicare drug plan (Part D), these drugs may be covered. Since most hospital pharmacies don’t participate in Medicare Part D, you may need to pay up front and out-of-pocket for these drugs and submit the claim to your Medicare drug plan for a refund.
Check with your hospital to see if they participate in Part D. I lost my wallet on a trip last week and I’ve been trying to reach Humana for a replacement Part D RX card.
The automated system I’ve had to deal with is infuriating beyond belief. When I finally got my request through “her” thick skull she kept requesting my FAX number over and over ad infinitum.
Am I the only individual card holder WITHOUT a FAX machine in my home???!!! I need a replacement card snail mailed to me and I need to finally speak to a live person. This incident is almost enough to make me switch plans the next open enrollment period. I received a letter from Humana regarding my new part D prescription drug plan.
The letter suggested that I call 1-800 281-6918. I have now been waiting on hold for 3 hours and 20 minutes!!!!! I’ve hated to hang up for fear I’d loose my place in line. I’ve been listening to the same repeated message over and over, telling me that they’re sorry for the wait but to continue to hold!
How rude and inconsiderate can you get!!! Is this a reflection of what their service will be like in the future? Yes my time IS valuable to me and this is totally unacceptable!! I have not received my Humana Walmart Prescription coupon book. I have called Humana about 5 times now and they stated that they would order me another book 3 times this coupon book is being ordered. Have not received on coupon book yet. Humana stated that they are going to investigate why I have not received any books and will get back of me in 48 hours.
This all started 1/13/2017 and I am still waiting for a response. I was told that previous customer service people I spoke with gave me wrong and misleading information. One customer service person told me to mail a check in without the coupon and gave me a address. I did do that and the customer service person I spoke with on 1/13/2016 said that my plan did not have a mail in check and the address I got to mail the check in he had no idea what that address was. He said for my own safety stop payment on that check which I did. Now I have not paid my premium for January and probably February also, because I have no coupon book. So what does a person do with no corporation from Humana.
